Where we are in the signing period

The American Grid Trials just wrapped up and teams are getting tiered access to information within the Trials according to their finish last season. Teams that finished as a lower seed in 2024 get earlier access.

This is designed to encourage parity similar to pro sports draft order.

While the Trials are the best way to get signed, if you missed out or haven’t been signed yet, there is still time. The end of the signing period is April 1st at midnight. In addition there are a few team that still have needs on the team that you may be a good fit for.

If you still want to play

Your best bet is to contact teams directy via their IG account or to message the head coach. Note that teams do get a lot of contact from players wanting to play, so be sure to include a description of what your best skills are and any other thoughts about how you could contribute to the team.

Remember: Grid League is a team sport. How you are as a teammate and your mental game is just as important as your physical ability. Mentioning past team sport experience, coaching or leadership experience, or anything specific you know about the sport of GRID could go a long way to catching a team’s attention.

Current team needs

Remember: Grid League players generally like to move fast or lift heavy. There are no long workouts. You are not penalized for a specific weakness and you tend to focus on your favorite movements as how you contribute to the team.

Definitions:

Strength Specialist – prefers heavy movements and is competitive in strength elements. Could be a strong CrossFitter, and Olympic Weightlifter or Strongman/woman.

Utility Player – Usually a CrossFitter (or former CrossFitter) that has a wide range of ability.

Bodyweight specialist – Often times a former gymnast or a smaller CrossFitter. Many top bodyweight specialists never competed in gymnastics, though having that background is a big advantage.

Las Vegas Venom – Female strength specialist or strong utility player

South Beach Palms – Male bodyweight specialist, female strength specialist or utility player

Houston Bandits – Female utility player or male bodyweight

Atlanta Wild – Female strength specialist or strong utility player

Tampa Bay Brigade – Female or male strength specialist or male utility player

Not ready yet?

First and foremost – we’ve had multiple players end up being important players in the League when they initially thought they weren’t ready. People new to Grid League often don’t recognize how big of an advantage they might have based on their body type, background, unique/rare skills, or just being an all around great teammate.

In addition, most teams could use an assistant coach if you might want to volunteer to be involved, learn the sport, and work toward a bigger role in the future. If you’re interested, we recommend reaching out to teams directly.

Finally, if you are sure 2025 isn’t the year, but you want to set a goal for it… there are a few ways to set your sights on the League in 2026. Read this article about working toward getting involved in the Grid League.
