ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT THE COMPETITION PLAN CHANGES FOR VEGAS

When the dust settled on Thursday after the hurricane, here is what we were left with in Vegas:

We have about 30% of our staff but a plan to run matches with them including teams offering to step up to help in roles where needed.
The Aces, Lions, and Brigade were severely affected with 8 or less players per team
The rest of the teams were affected, but are close enough to a full roster to play. Some needed a hole filled here or there.
We have a GRID to play on ready and set up

The obstacles people battled through to get here is incredible. We are proud and honored to be able to hold matches this weekend even though they will be a bit different.

That said, it is overshadowed by the devastation of the hurricane. We are wishing those affected a speedy recovery to normalcy where possible.

Competition plan

Here is the high level overview of the plan for Vegas matches:

There will be two types of matches. One has much more influence over season standings than the other. We are calling them Primary and Secondary matches. Both versions do matter for Season standings.
The Lions, Aces, and Brigade will be combined into one super team for the Vegas weekend. That team will play 2 secondary matches.
The rest of the teams will play one primary and one secondary match.

Below is the schedule, followed by the full plan written out as it matters for the standings and the rest of the season.

The Milton Makeup Plan

Terms:

Normal match – The regular point differential outcome of a match

Primary match –
Match where the point differential outcome is doubled (ie – if a team wins by 2 they would be given 4 points, if they lose by 2 they lose 4 points)

Secondary match –
Match where the winner gets a +1 point differential (super team gets one for each team). The loser gets no points won or lost

Super team –
Combo of the Aces, Brigade, Lions who all had teams with 8 or less players in Vegas

Plan:

Each full team in Vegas will play 1 primary and 1 secondary
The super team will play 2 secondary matches in Vegas
The make-up primary matches for the Aces, Brigade, and Lions will take place in the early part of day 1 at the November event. The late part of day one would be the playoff matches to make it to day 2 for the championship
The 4th team for the make up primary match will be one of the 5 real teams in Vegas determined in the following manner:

The top team in the standings will be given the option to play in the make up matches for normal point values (not 2X like a primary match). If they do not play, they are counting on their points to hold up and that they will get a bye to the playoff matches later in the day after all the points shake out
If the top team in standing declines, the next team in the standings will be given the option
This process will repeat until a team deems they would like to play for the points. The teams incentivized to play will be within reach of being overcome by the teams playing in the make-up primary matches

The Lions will play the Aces in their make-up primary match. The Brigade will play the 4th team.
Win/loss record will not contribute to standings for the remainder of 2024. Standings will be exclusively decided by point differentials
